Dr. Paulraj Samuel grew up in The Woodlands, graduated from The John Cooper School and completed Undergraduate education at Emory University in Atlanta. From there, he made his way back home and attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After integrating that experience with his time studying at the Harvard School of Public Health, he graduated with both M.D. and M.P.H. degrees. He then completed Internal Medicine Residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, then finally returned back to Emory University for Interventional Cardiology Fellowship. Dr. Samuel is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology. He currently serves as the Director of Interventional Cardiology through Samuel Family Cardiology, anchored in Spring. As an Interventional Cardiologist, he feels deeply fortunate to count himself amongst the doctors who collaborate clinically with nurses and technicians to perform emergency procedures for patients suffering from a heart attack. The opportunity to help guide people back from immediate threats to their survival has inspired him to share with everyone from patients to loved ones and friends the mantra “Cherish Your Life.” In addition to Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, his practice includes regular management of preventative care, cardiovascular risk factor evaluation/modification, and imaging including Ultrasound, SPECT and PET/CT based modalities. Overall he feels passionate about the kind of patient centered care that integrates discussions around mental health, spirituality, or anything the patient feels influences their own health. He also strongly believes in normalizing the dialogue between patients and providers around the synergy between mind and body. In addition to Clinical Medicine, Dr. Samuel serves as Chair of the Board of Directors at Mosaics, a local nonprofit organization that works to connect those in need with the Mental Health resource providers that can make a difference in their lives. Collaborating with Mosaics, he hopes to help enhance the ability of Individual Healthcare Providers as well as Healthcare Delivery Systems to streamline connecting those with Mental Health needs to the individualized set of people who can help them the most. He lives in The Woodlands with Dr. Amber Samuel (Maternal-Fetal Medicine) and their three children, aged 13, 11, and 5.
