Executive Board 2016-2017

Tina Cates

Tina graduated with her Bachelor in Nursing and Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, and completed the Post-Masters Family Nurse Practitioner program at The University of Texas at Houston School of Nursing. Throughout her nursing career, Tina has worked in critical care units and cardiac catheterization labs. She is currently practicing as a family nurse practitioner in private practice. Tina is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and belongs to several professional organizations. She has served as president-elect for NHMAPNS from 2013-2015.

Michelle Belmonte
President Elect

Michelle earned her Master's Degree in Science as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2004 at the University of California San Francisco. She received her Bachelor in Science Nursing Degree, Cum Laude, from St. Paul College, Philippines, in 1996. Michelle has worked in various inpatient settings including acute rehabilitation, medical surgical units, and critical care units, including transplant care. Cardiology is an area that she enjoys and currently works as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner at a hospital in The Woodlands. Michelle is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society in Nursing. She is also a member of the St. Anne's Society and volunteers with the Boys Scout of America. Michelle spends her free time reading, enjoying the outdoors, and hanging out with her husband and three children, who are her constant source of joy and entertainment.

Miranda Kelly

Miranda graduated with her BSN from Central State University in Oklahoma and then continued her education obtaining her MSN (CNS) and post masters ACNP from UTHSC and her DNP from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Miranda has been a RN for 28 years and a NP for 15 years. She has held multiple positions in nursing from bedside nurse to management, but being a NP is her passion. Miranda has presented at national and local conferences, published, is involved with AACN on a local and national level, and has received awards at a local and state level. Miranda enjoys competing in races with friends, spending time on the lake, and volunteers with the Houston Rodeo.

Vitina Cosse
Web Master

Vitina graduated from PVAMU with her MSN, FNP with Honors and as the 2012 Dean's Award recipient. She obtained her BSN from UTMB in 2005 and worked as an ER Nurse for over 8 years. Vitina is currently enrolled in a Post Masters ER/Trauma Certification through the University of Texas Houston/School of Nursing.  She has been an educator for over 20 years, including a few years as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy. Vitina enlisted in the US Navy and served as Hospital Corpsman for 5 years, and was Honorably discharged in 1999. She also obtained several awards such as the Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Marine Commendation Medal for her work in teaching BLS, ACLS, PALS, and EMT courses to active duty members while stationed at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina. She spends her weekends with her family, mostly watching her son and/or daughter with their various AAU sports or playing golf with her husband of almost 20 years. Vitina also volunteers her time to various organizations, such as the Houston Rodeo and the MS150.

Pat Obulaney
Ways & Means

Pat has been a registered nurse since 1976. During her nursing career, she has worked in the OR, ICU, Endoscopy, Oncology, ER, and as a School Nurse. She has also functioned as a perioperative manager and an OR educator. Pat transitioned from RN to BSN at Prairie View A&M University in 1998, then earned her MSN/ Adult NP at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2008. From graduation until 2011, she practiced as an Adult NP with a family practice group in the Woodlands.

Currently, Pat is full time faculty at UTHSC Houston School of Nursing. Currently, she is also enrolled in a DNP program through University of Incarnate Word and the clinical portion is being accomplished at TOMAGWA clinic in Tomball. Outside of medicine, she loves singing, camping, snow-skiing, fishing and working with teens at church.

Lisa Patton
Past President * Founding Member

RN, MSN, APRN-FNP-BC. Lisa is a Family Nurse Practitioner and earned her Masters degree with Magna Cum Laud from the University of Texas in Houston.

Lisa is a member of Texas Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Credentialing Center, Sigma Theta Tau, Coalition for Nurses in Advanced Practice, American Nurse Association, Texas Nurse Association, Houston Area Nurse Practitioners, APRN Shared Governance Counsel for Harris Health. Founding board member and the current President for North Harris Montgomery Advanced Practice Nurse Society (NHMAPNS). Honors include Who's Who in American, Most Outstanding Student, President of Nursing Class, Dean's List, President's List Honor Role, Outstanding Preceptor. Lisa has been instrumental in obtaining charitable status for NHMAPNS, creating and implementing bylaws to establish a formalized organization. During her tenure, the membership has increased from 200 to over 550 member/followers by centralizing the group's information on one webpage that is accessible to members and non-members and has been able to secure $60,000 annually in pharmaceutical funding for monthly meetings, as well as providing medical and legislative updates for NHMAPNS members. Lisa continues to work with the Coalition for Nurses in Advance Practice, CNAP, a state wide APRN organization, by reviewing legislative bills as they are introduced in the state legislature and providing CNAP Lobbyists with needed information to lobby for or against said bills. She is a former member of the Steering Committee for Harris Health Systems APRN Shared Governance and a current Board Member of the APRN Shared Governance Committee for Harris Health, the third largest public healthcare organization in the United States. Lisa volunteers with a Medical Emergency Response Team at a mega church in Houston with 5000-7000 people on campus on any given Sunday.

In addition to the affiliations with medical associations, Lisa has been active in many charitable organizations. She is especially proud to have been a founding member of Cypress Belles, a division of National Charity League. She served for 14 years with her two daughters and has held numerous committee chair positions within the organization. NCL's mission is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences. Lisa and her daughters have been able to provide 40 hours of philanthropic services annually to area charities including Habitat for Humanity and area Assistive Ministries. She has been a leader and co-leader for 13 years with the Girl Scouts of America and was an active member with the Boy Scouts of America and has provided 80-100 hours of service annually to these organizations.

Julee Mathena
Past President *Founding Member

Julee Mathena is a Nurse Practitioner employeed with Allergy and Asthma Associates in The Woodlands office. She has lead the North Harris Montgomery Advance Practice Nurses Society (NHMAPNS) since its inception Fall 2000. Two years ago she spear headed the development of the NHMAPNS by-laws and the creation of a non-profit status. Julee has 17 years of teaching experience as well as several years experience as a nurse practitioner in urban and rural family practice settings. She is interested in promoting the nurse practitioner role in all health care settings and has served as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students.

Kim Schlautman

Kim has been a registered nurse since 2008 when she graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She has worked at Children's Hospital Omaha in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and at Texas Children's Hospital the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. In 2012. Kim graduated with her MSN from UT Health Science Center Houston. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner currently practicing with the Congenital Heart Surgery Service at Texas Children's Hospital. Kim volunteers by seeing patients at Interfaith Community Clinic in The Woodlands.
